A hand-embroidered technique used by the women in the WAYUU tribe located in the district of La Guajira, a desertic region in the northern part of the country. Tapizado is a very ancient tradition that is passed on from mother to daughter at a very young age. Some of our bags, clutches and dresses are made hand woven using this technique. Due to the nature of this craftsmanship, it offers our product the perfect imperfection.
An ancestral technique that requires the artisan to insert knots into the garment and tie them each by hand. The entire process is very time consuming, requires careful hand and feet coordination, and yet the result are worth it by far.
Working one color at a time, most of our prints are hand painted by artisans who specialize in drawing on fabric. Whether it’s silk or cotton, each piece of fabric is painted individually by hand making the absolutely unique patterns, prints and imagery.
For generations, the skilled artisans in the mountains produced hand woven, intricate clothes entirely by hand and have long been known for the excellence in weaving. This ancient traditional technique creates a fabric and texture that’s one of a kind and means no hand woven product is the same.
Our Wayuu Macramé garments are handmade and designed by talented artisan tribal women. They use the art of knotting cord or string in patterns to make decorative garments. Each piece is unique and has its own style and energy.
